The relationship between the level of surfactant protein D and the development of gastroduodenal diseases associated with helicobacter pylory in children

Аннотация: Іntroduction. The prevalence of gastrointestinal pathology, including that associated with Helicobacter pylori (HP), remains high in the pediatric population. Given that the development of inflammation in HP-associated diseases is linked to the immune response, studying the mechanisms of this response is important, as the interaction of the mucosal epithelium with immune factors, including antimicrobial peptides, influences the progression of the inflammatory process and the course of the disease. Surfactant protein D (SP-D), considered a component of the mucosal barrier, is one of the antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Studying SP-D levels in children with gastrointestinal diseases will deepen our understanding of the pathogenesis of the inflammatory process and the role of HP in it.
Purpose: To investigate the possible relationship between the level of surfactant protein D and the development of gastroduodenal diseases associated with Helicobacter pylori in children.

The level of transforming growth factor-beta 1 in children with diabetes mellitus was examined. This level was increased in dependence of the disease duration and had a direct relationship with the insulin-therapy. The revealed changes can develop against the background of morpho-functional nephropathies.

Lezhenko, H. O.; Savchenko, D. S.
Helicobacter pylori (HP)
The significant prevalence of gastrointestinal diseases, including Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-associated conditions, presents challenges
characterized by variable clinical progression, diagnostic difficulties, and and heterogeneous therapeutic responses, thereby compromising
treatment efficacy. A 2022 meta-analysis estimated the global prevalence of Hp infection in the pediatric population at approximately 32%,
underscoring the necessity of investigating Hp-associated pathologies. To identify key drivers in the development of chronic inflammatory
processes in the gastrointestinal tract, factor analysis was conducted to elucidate latent relationships among the evaluated parameters.
Objectives of the study. To determine the role of individual pathogenetic factors in the development of inflammatory diseases of
the upper gastrointestinal tract in children utilizing factor and cluster analyses.
